Weiser River

Paddling & Surf Locations

Springtime runoff provides great river flows for boating the Weiser River! Locals will tell you that prime floating is in mid-late April. The most commonly run section is from the town of Midvale to the Galloway Diversion Dam, a 22-mile section with fun Class II+ wave trains for several miles when flows are between 1500 and 2500 cfs.

At higher flows, Class III hydraulics and waves usually appear. Upper sections of the river are beautiful and fun floats as well—not to mention some of the better fishing reaches on the river—however there’s no public access. ICL is working with other interested people and stakeholders to develop public access.
